Foley Law Firm Secured 4th Largest Car Accident Verdict in PA for 2019
The Philadelphia Legal Intelligencer recognized the Foley Law Firm for securing the fourth largest car accident verdict in the state of Pennsylvania in 2019. Attorneys Thomas J. Foley III and Michael J. Foley secured the $1,050,000 verdict in the case of Kanyuck v. Progressive Insurance.

The Motor Vehicle Accident
The accident occurred in 2017 in the parking lot of Ahart’s Market in Blakeslee, PA. Stephen Kanyuck (then 72 years old) and his son Stanley Kanyuck (then 43 years old) were hit by a speeding Nissan SUV.
The driver of the Nissan, Agnes Hamilton (then 80 years old), accidentally hit the accelerator rather than the brake. Her SUV struck other parked vehicle and a shopping cart corral, pinning the Kanyucks in the process.
The Lasting Effects of the Accident Injuries
The Kanyucks suffered multiple fractures and other injuries to their legs. Stanley was permanently disabled by the collision, and as a result requires the use of a cane to walk. The injuries sustained also affected his job as a security guard.
Dispute with Progressive Insurance
Stanley first recovered $250,000 against Hamilton’s policy. He also sought additional compensation through Progressive, his own insurance provider, through his underinsured motorist policy. Progressive contended that Stanley’s injuries did not warrant more than the $250,000 from Hamilton’s policy.

Kanyuck v. Progressive Insurance
