Thomas J. Foley, Jr., is a native of Scranton. Mr. Foley has established a reputation as one of the most recognized and respected medical malpractice and personal injury lawyers in Pennsylvania and throughout the United States, with over 40 years of professional experience and multiple settlements and awards of one million dollars or more to his credit. Upon completing his studies at Temple University, he served as Law Clerk to Justice Michael J. Eagen, Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, for two years and as Assistant Attorney General for a further year. He was a member of the Disciplinary Board of the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania from 1972 to 1978 and a Trustee for both the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Political Action Committee (1978-2002) and the American Association For Justice Political Action Committee (1999-2002). From 1991 to 2000, Mr. Foley was a member of and Incorporator of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court Historical Society and served as a Trustee from 1991-2000.
Since 1983, Mr. Foley has participated as an Attorney Invitee in the Third Circuit Judicial Conference. In addition to being one of the premier personal injury attorneys in Pennsylvania, he maintains membership in a number of highly esteemed professional organizations, including the Lackawanna County (President, 1989-1990), Pennsylvania (Member, Board of Governors, 1986-1989; Executive Member, Judiciary Committee; Chairman, Political Action Committee, 1994-1995) and American Bar Associations; the Pennsylvania Trial Lawyers Association (President, 1971-1979); The American Trial Lawyers Association now known as The American Association For Justice (Member, Board of Governors, 1981-1984, 1991-present); and the Million Dollar Advocates Forum. Mr. Foley is a Life Fellow in both the Pennsylvania Bar Foundation (Zone Governor, 1994-2000) and the American Bar Foundation.
Mr. Foley is a member of the International Advisory Board of the Sarah Jane Brain Foundation which created the National Pediatric Acquired Brain Injury Plan, developing a seamless, stadardized, evidence-based system of care that is universally accessible for the millions of American families who have a child or young adult with an acquired brain injury.
Mr. Foley has been a member of the Birth Trauma Litigation Group and the Traumatic Brain Injury Group of the American Association for Justice.
Mr. Foley was also the recipient of AAJ Stewart Award in 2001, the PA AAJ Special Service Award in 2003, and the PA AAJ Milton Rosenberg Award.
