Roof Crush/Vehicle Rollovers
Manufacturers of motor vehicles—including sports utility vehicles, or SUVs—are supposed to produce vehicles with sufficient roof strength to withstand a given amount of force in the event of a rollover accident. To ensure that manufacturers meet this responsibility, the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 216 was enacted, requiring manufacturers to perform roof crush tests on their vehicles while the vehicles were static and upright. Unfortunately, this test is an inadequate gauge of how a vehicle will perform in a true rollover accident. As a result, many motor vehicles have proven to have insufficient roof strength when they roll over, leading to serious injuries and fatalities that might otherwise have been prevented. If you have lost someone you love in an accident due to a vehicle's inability to withstand the force of a rollover, the Foley Law Firm may be able to help you obtain compensation from the automobile manufacturer and other negligent parties. Contact the automobile accident attorneys at our Scranton, Stroudsburg, and Milford, Pennsylvania-area offices for a consultation.
